It’s true. This site has gone all insecty. Back at the end of July, I noticed a bunch of ants having a crazy ant party on this one particular spot on my lawn. Like, a LOT of ants. I’m not sure what they were all going crazy over, but there were tons of them, and they were crawling all over each other. It was interesting to look at, but kinda creepy. That many ants shouldn’t be together at the same time.
Check out this low quality Youtube video first, followed by a picture. If you look closely, you can see some ants crawling at the beginning. At the end of the video, that large dark blob area is actually a bunch of ants.
Remember the Friendly Giant? My friend at work and I were having a talk about this last week, so I did a little research on the show. I was very surprised to hear that the show was started in 1953, in Wisconsin. It wasn’t until 1958 that the show made its way up to Canada and started airing on CBC.
The Friendly Giant was played by Bob Homme, who sadly died back in 2000 at the age of 81. I have fond memories of the show, as I’m sure many people do. The show spanned so many generations, that anybody who watched TV as a kid in the last 30 years has to be familiar with it. Remember Rusty the Rooster and Jerome the Giraffe? And then there were the Jazz Cats that sometimes made an appearance. The show would end with the Friendly Giant rearranging his furniture. Such a great show, I tell ya.
In 1984, CBC canceled the show due to budget cuts. I don’t understand how that could be, since the show must have had one of the lowest budgets ever. After all was said and done, there were over 3000 episodes of The Friendly Giant produced.
I went to a local Petro Canada to fill up put half a tank of gas in my car the other day and I decided to get a car wash while I was there. Everything was going well until I reached the drying section… The giant air blowers were blowing with such force that the cover for my front driver side blinker blew off. It may have already been cracked, but the thing just flew right off. It was sorta funny.
I went and told the cashier, and he told me to go talk to the ‘car wash technician’ who was really just a high school kid wearing a reflective vest and a hard hat. He went and got my part out of the car wash and I glued it back on when I got home.
Also, when I got home, I realized I had just paid $8 for the worst car wash I’ve ever had. My friend drew a big smiley face in the dirt on my hood sometime last week, and it’s obviously still there after getting the deluxe wash. Not only that, there is also a nice little chip in the paint on my roof…
The car wash is directly beside Oil Changers, and I think I’ll stay away from that particular Petro Canada from now on.
Sometime during the summer, I found this crispy dried up dragonfly lying on my front walkway. It was all brittle and weird looking, with a body like a twig or stick. It also had weird bluish colours on it. If you look closely, these things are pretty gross.
